Salicylic Acid vs Benzoyl Peroxide

Two of the most famous acne-fighting ingredients, but they work in very different ways. Knowing which one to use can save your skin.

Salicylic Acid (BHA)

Best for: Blackheads and whiteheads.

It is oil-soluble, meaning it can dive deep into the pores to dissolve sebum and dead skin cells. It's great for general congestion and preventing future breakouts.

Benzoyl Peroxide

Best for: Red, inflamed pustules.

It works by killing the acne-causing bacteria (P. acnes) and introducing oxygen into the pore. It can be drying, so use it as a spot treatment or in a wash-off cleanser form.

Can you use both?

Yes, but be careful. Using them together at the same time can be very irritating. Try using one in the morning and one at night, or alternate days.
